Where is my data stored?

On your device. Mileful does not have a backend server or cloud sync. Every trip, every vehicle, every setting lives in a local database on your iPhone. This means your data is private by default, but it also means uninstalling the app permanently deletes everything. Export to CSV first if you want a backup.

Can I get my data back if I delete the app?

Not from us — we don't have it. iOS may keep the app's data for a short period if you re-install before fully removing it, but don't rely on this. Use the in-app Export Report feature to save a CSV before uninstalling.

How do I export my trips?

Go to the Reports tab → pick a month or year → tap Export Report → choose which trips to include (Business / Personal / All) → tap Share. iOS's share sheet lets you save the CSV to Files, email it, AirDrop it, etc.

How do I import trips?

Go to SettingsImport Trips → choose a CSV file. Mileful accepts CSVs exported from itself as well as files from MileIQ, Stride, Hurdlr, TripLog, and similar mileage apps (we recognize common column names like "Start Address", "Miles", "Date", etc.).

Each row is validated against MapKit before import. Rows with addresses that don't resolve are shown in red and excluded by default; you can opt them back in or tap a row to edit the addresses before importing.

Why are some imported distances different from my CSV?

By default, Mileful keeps the distance from your CSV (it reflects what you actually drove). When MapKit's recommended route distance differs by more than 15%, you'll see an orange "Use X.X mi" hint next to the row — tap it to swap to MapKit's value if you prefer the route-based number.

What happens if a CSV row matches an existing trip?

Rows that match an existing trip (same date + start address + end address) are flagged with a DUPLICATE badge and unchecked by default. This prevents accidentally re-importing the same data. You can manually opt them back in if you actually do want a duplicate (e.g. you drove the same route twice that day).

How are mileage deductions calculated?

Mileful uses the official IRS standard mileage rates (and the corresponding CRA rates for Canada or SAT rates for Mexico, depending on your country setting in Settings). Rates are baked into the app and updated as the tax authorities publish new ones. You can also define custom rates in Settings → Mileage Rates if your situation requires a different rate.

Will there be automatic GPS tracking?

Yes — auto-tracking is on the roadmap and will be added in a future update. For now, trips are entered manually or imported from CSV. When auto-tracking ships, it'll be opt-in and clearly explained — your privacy is the default.

Is Mileful available outside the US?

Currently the app is built around the US, Canadian, and Mexican mileage rate tables. The app will work in other countries, but you'll need to set a custom rate in Settings → Mileage Rates to reflect your local tax authority's reimbursement rate.

How much does Mileful cost?

See the App Store listing for current pricing. We do not show ads and we do not sell or share your data.

I think I found a bug.

I have a feature request.

We'd love to hear it. Email us. We can't promise to build everything, but we read every suggestion and it shapes the roadmap.
