Mileful ("the app", "we", "us") is an iOS application published by Aidar LLC ("the company"). This policy describes what data the app collects, how it's used, and your rights over it.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Data you enter into the app
When you use Mileful, you enter or import data such as:
- Trip details: start and end addresses, dates, times, distances, parking fees, toll fees, trip type, purpose, and notes.
- Vehicle information: vehicle name, make, model, year, odometer readings.
- Settings: country, mileage rate preferences, custom trip purposes.
This data is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We have no servers, no cloud sync, and no way to access this data. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes everything.
1.2 Location data (auto-tracking, when enabled)
If you enable the optional auto-tracking feature in a future version of Mileful, the app will use your device's location services to detect and record drives. Specifically:
- Location coordinates are read by your device's GPS while a trip is in progress.
- Recorded routes are stored only on your device, attached to the trip you're tracking.
- Location data is never transmitted to us or to any third party.
- You can disable auto-tracking at any time in Settings or by revoking location permission in iOS Settings.
1.3 Data sent to Apple MapKit
When you type an address into the app, or when the app calculates a driving route between two addresses, those queries are sent to Apple MapKit to geocode the address or compute the route. Apple's own privacy policy governs this data: apple.com/legal/privacy.
We do not receive or store any data from these MapKit queries beyond the route information returned to the app on your device.
2. Information we do NOT collect
To be explicit:
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number.
- We do not collect payment information. The app is distributed through the Apple App Store; any payment (if applicable) is processed by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- We do not use third-party analytics (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Apple App Analytics SDK).
- We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA). The app does not show ads.
- We do not use crash reporting SDKs (no Sentry, no Bugsnag). Apple may provide aggregate crash reports through its standard developer tools, but those reports are anonymized by Apple and contain no personal data.
- We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise distribute your data, because we do not have your data.
3. How your data is used
Because all data stays on your device, "use" of your data is entirely controlled by you within the app:
- View, edit, and organize your trips.
- Categorize trips for tax-deduction purposes.
- Compute mileage deductions based on the current IRS (or CRA, or SAT) rates stored in the app.
- Export trips to a CSV file using the in-app export feature. The exported file is saved to your device's temporary storage and shared via iOS's standard share sheet — where it goes after that is up to you.
4. Your rights
Because we never collect your data:
- Access: All your data is already on your device. Open the app to see it.
- Export: Use the in-app CSV export to download all your trip data.
- Deletion: Delete the app or individual trips from within it. Once removed from your device, the data is gone — we have no backup, no server copy, no archive.
- Correction: Edit any trip directly in the app.
If you are a California resident (CCPA / CPRA) or in the European Union (GDPR), the rights granted to you under those regulations are honored automatically by virtue of the app's local-only design: there is no personal data held by us that we could disclose, port, correct, or delete on your behalf.
5. Children's privacy
Mileful is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone — including children — because, as stated above, we do not collect data.
6. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where the changes are significant, surface a notice in the app on next launch. Continuing to use the app after a change indicates acceptance of the new policy.
